Harold's Field has been carefully designed to be sustainable by harnessing passive solar energy. The homes are built with highly insulated timber frames and finished where possible with sustainable materials. Homes have unheated winter gardens that not only provide valuable living space, but form a vital part of the buildings passive energy design. The glass structures are warmed quickly by the sun, the warm air can then pass passively into the core of the building. The development is the Powys Building Awards 2008 winner of the Sustainability and Regeneration Category.
